Novak Djokovic trough to Australian Open semi-finals, as Nishikori retires

Novak Djokovic didn’t have a lot to do in his quarter final match against Kei Nishikori, as the Japaneese retired in the second set. Novak won the first set 6-1 and he had 4-1 lead in the second when Nishikori decided he couldn’t continue.

They spent less then an hour on court, which means Djokovic is going fresh into the semis. His opponent there is Lucas Pouille. The Frenchman is the biggest surprise in the tournament so far and he is in the first Grand Slam semi final in his career. He defeated Milos Raonic 7-6 (4) 6-3 6-7 (2) 6-4 in the quarter final this morning and set up his first match against Novak Djokovic.

The game will be played on Friday morning, 09:30 (CET). Djokovic is clearly the favorite have and it is so far so good for the World number 1, as every 6 times he went trough the semi finals in Melbourne he finished the tournament winning the title. The Serbian tennis player is chasing his 15th Grand Slam title, which will bring him only 5 behind Roger Federer.
