Novak Djokovic lost only 4 games in the Australian Open semi final against Lucas Pouille, winning the match 6-0 6-2 6-2.
The World number 1 showed real class, he broke his opponent seven times and didn’t let him a single break point on his serve. He finished the game in 1 hour and 24 minutes and he made only 5 unforced errors in the whole match.
Novak is in his seventh final in Melbourne and third in a row on the Grand Slam tournaments. He will face one of his biggest rivals there, Rafael Nadal. Nadal is also playing at his very best and we can expect an outstanding game of tennis on Sunday morning.
Rafa will a have chance to get revenge over Novak for the semi-final loss at last year’s Wimbledon. Djokovic won that match 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(9), 6-3, 10-8 in remarkable fashion and 2 days later won his fourth Wimbledon title.
This is going to be their 43 game, as Novak is leading 27-25 in head-to-head wins. They have played only once in Melbourne so far, in the 2012 final which was another all-time classic won by Djokovic 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5 in 5 hours and 53 minutes and that game is still the longest Grand Slam final match in the history of tennis.
Sunday 09:30 (CET) – It is going to be Nadal’s second or Novak’s record-breaking seventh title in Melbourne.
