Petra Kvitova says that very few believed that she could return to professional tennis after sustaining damage to her left playing hand.
The Czech player admits that the time she spent in rehabilitation had been tough . “The damage was not just physical, it was mental as well” – Claimed Kvitova.
Kvitova is well on her way now to become World Number One if she wins against Naomi Osaka on Saturday. Kvitova shows big enthusiasm and positive energy after defeating Danielle Colins.
Its outstanding to see her return after such traumatic experience. It took her several moths to return her trust in people. Had she not supressed the negative thoughts that loomed over her during that time, we might have never see her again in the court.
Of course, she wasn’t left on her own in this battle. One of the best tennis players ever that had had a similar expirience, was there to support her. Monica Seles, was stabbed by a spectator in the middle of a game in 1993, visited Kvitova last summer. Kvitova says that being with someone that understands had really helped her.
