Novak Djokovic has destroyed Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final, winning his 15th Grand Slam title.
Novak was impressive today securing an easy 6-3 6-2 6-3 victory over his biggest rival. The match finished in 2 hours in 6 minutes, a lot earlier than expected.
Djokovic broke Nadal 5 times, with early breaks in each set. He dominated the game from the start, hit 34 winners and made only 9 unforced errors. His serve was also on top level, as he won 80% on his first, and 84% on his second serve. Nole also hit 8 aces.
It was his 9th consecutive win over Nadal on hard court, all of them without losing a single set.
The top seed Novak Djokovic won his 7th record-breaking Australian Open title and he secured his third back-to-back Grand Slam. He is now 5 titles short from all-time best Roger Federer who has won 20 Grand Slam tournaments in his career.
Nadal has played the fifth final in Melbourne, but simply came against better opponent. Rafa has won the Australian Open once – in 2009 and he has now lost 4 consecutive finals here. Nadal has 17 Grand Slam wins in his career, as the next one this season is his favorite, Roland Garros.
