West Ham United and Liverpool played a 1-1 draw in the last game of the 25th Premier League Matchday on Monday night.
Sadio Mane scored his 11th goal of the season, putting his team to a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. The goal was controversial though, as the assistant James Milner was in an offside position in the build-up.
West Ham got back very soon, through Michail Antonio only six minutes later. Felipe Anderson passed him the ball from a tricky free kick, as they managed to fool the whole Liverpool defence.
The Hammers were the better team in the following parts of the game and had many chances to win the three points. But Liverpool had the biggest one, as Divock Origi came one on one with Fabianski in the dying moments of the game, shooting the ball directly into him.
He was also deep into offside position and the referees can be lucky that he didn’t score.
Jurgen Klopp and Manuel Pellegrini got into a heated discussion at the end of the game, as the West Ham manager after the game said:
“Klopp is used to winning with offside goals. He beat me against Malaga with a goal seven metres offside – so he cannot complain about anything.”
“They scored a goal one metre offside. And in the last minute with Origi in front of the linesman, again one metre offside.”
The former Manchester City boss added: “I said in the week that we need to win this game for our fans and if we are going to give a hand to Manchester City, well, they are my club also.
“Maybe that was the reason the manager of Liverpool didn’t like it.”
